Security Systems

Facility Explorer Asset Protection is a comprehensive system consisting of security products used to safeguard facilities, equipment and people. It brings together all relevant capabilities – access control, video surveillance, and alarm monitoring and management – into a single, integrated, standards-based solution.

The Asset Protection system is based on a modular, scalable architecture that allows you to start small and add components as needed. Because it is designed and built on open standards, Facility Explorer Asset Protection can operate independently or with a broad array of third-party security peripheral devices, as well as integrate into building automation systems and IT networking infrastructures.

Features and Benefits

Access Control

Access control is the primary component of Facility Explorer Asset Protection. The access control system combines software and hardware components to form a comprehensive, fully integrated intrusion detection and prevention solution involving three major components.

• Access Controllers
Access controllers work in conjunction with extension modules to interact with a variety of inputs and outputs such as door contact switches, readers and elevator controls. The controller runs software that allows it to make decisions based on inputs and its configuration strategy. Controllers support Transmission Controls Protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP) and 10-base T Ethernet connectivity, allowing multiple controllers to be easily networked together.

Modular and scalable, access controllers provide the flexibility to activate only the functions that are relevant to your requirements, and then to add functionality as needed. Open architecture and direct network connectivity make it easy to scale up from one door to thousands by simply adding controllers.

• Extension Modules
The reach and versatility of access controllers is extended when connected to extension modules, which are specialized input/output devices. The modules are designed for quick, efficient and cost effective deployment, and can be installed at remote entry points near the controlled device (e.g. door, elevator, etc.) and wired back to the access controller via RS-485 bus.

Four types of extension modules are available to handle a broad range of access control needs:
• Door Extension Module
• Input Extension Module
• Output Extension Module
• Elevator Extension Module

• Access Software
Facility Explorer Access software is a suite of applications that allow the installation, configuration, administration and operation of the access control hardware. The software runs on a dedicated server connected to an IP-based network shared with the access controllers.

Facility Explorer Access software is comprised of numerous applications and utilities, and provides door control (including user management and access scheduling), elevator control, and management of inputs and outputs.

Facility Explorer Asset Protection supports a wide variety of third-party security end devices, allowing you to choose the reader, cards, locks and other peripheral devices that best suit your access control project. To ease the estimation, ordering and delivery of these types of devices, TSBA serves as your single source by providing direct order access.

Video Surveillance
To proactively address the threat of unauthorized entry, the Facility Explorer Asset Protection system integrates video surveillance with access control. With the choice of analog or IP video capabilities, video surveillance provides an additional means of controlling access to your valuable assets. And, a synchronized record of access and critical events gives you a complete picture of what is happening in your facility, instead of just a video recording of what happened after the fact.

Video surveillance software provides advanced capabilities to help security personnel manage large amounts of video. Video can be set up to record continuously, on demand, or when triggered by motion or an alarm/event. Information can be attached to video clips so they can be searched for and replayed at a later time.

The software also allows a wide range of flexibility in system configuration including type of system response, viewing preferences and access privileges. Three DVR/NVR configurations are available, allowing you to choose the level of video technology and performance that best meets your needs.

Alarm Management and Event Monitoring
Alarm Management and Event Monitoring are made possible through the Facility Explorer Asset Protection Manager software, which delivers complete asset protection by providing the following capabilities:
• A single, integrated view of events.
• One key point of control for monitoring and management.
• Usage of open standards to easily integrate industry standard BAS and IT management consoles.

This comprehensive, streamlined solution provides real-time views of events from any input without requiring users to leave the console. It also sends immediate alerts via user-defined media to user-selected personnel for appropriate action.

The Asset Protection Manager serves up a graphical, system user interface that can be accessed with a standard web browser over an intranet or internet connection. It supports integrating protocols and technologies such as BACnet IP and Niagara AX which are commonly used in HVAC building automation systems, including the FX40 Supervisory Controller. This provides the ability to offer a fully integrated HVAC and security system console.
